'Tis the Season

We had a fantastic weekend filled with lots of Christmas cheer.  I love the holidays, and Mason is getting old enough to really partake in lots of activities.  I love how interested he is in everything, and I especially love that he learned to say "Ho, Ho, Ho" while wearing his Santa hat!  Here are of the highlights from our weekend...

Saturday we went to the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens.  It was really crowded, but we had a great time.  Mason loved looking at all the lights, so the crowds didn't bother us all that much.

Mason loves trains so this was his favorite.  There was no getting him to look at the camera.

Sunday the weather here was horrible!  It stormed all day so we made the most of our day indoors.  (Please excuse our clothes...at home with it raining led to comfy clothes)

We made cookies from scratch!  And, yes, he is eating a cookie while making cookies!

He did a great job and was actually pretty into it for a while.

Then, we made our Santa cake (pictures to follow).  Mason was watching it all get mixed.

He decided 'stirring and cooking' water was more fun than actual cooking!

Look, Mom, my hands wet!

Of course, we had to decorate our cookies!

His favorite part!  He waited all day for this!

Re-cap from last weekend...

I took our Christmas pictures this year...

which meant lots of playing with sticks...

throwing leaves...

and walking in the woods with Daddy!  We had a blast!

Like always, we chopped down our christmas tree!  I didn't get many pictures between trying to contain a toddler in a field of trees and trying to help my husband saw down a tree.

I love this kid!  Side note: I also just realized he is wearing the same shirt in almost all of these pictures.  I promise he has lots of clothes.  However, his short sleeve clothing that fits is limited, and we have seriously had no winter this year.   His adorable winter clothes are getting wasted, and he is outgrowing all of his summer clothes.

They had a fun sleigh to take pictures in.  Too bad Mason isn't looking at the camera.

I'm excited that this is my last week of work, and then I get to be off for 2 weeks with my boy!  We have so many more fun things planned, and I just can't seem to get enough of this sweet, adorable boy!

Chicago and Halloween (Better late than never!)

The weekend before Halloween, we flew up to Chicago to see Nick's family.  His grandmother has a place in this community called Woodsmoke, and they do all kinds of fall/Halloween things.  It was great for Mason to get to be a part of what Nick did as a kid, and to see Nick's family that we don't see very often!

Mason enjoyed playing in the leaves!  Since Chicago has a real fall, there were leaves everywhere!  Nick made a small pile for Mason to play in, and then taught him to throw them in the air...it was so cute!

My Aladdin and Abu before we started Trick or Treating!

Mason was so cute waving hi and bye like he was in a parade!

Nick's mom made all of our costumes.  The boys' turned out great; however, don't judge mine.  It was in the 40's so I had to wear the thermal underneath eventhough it looks ridiculous.

He was the cutest little monkey!  And, yes, his costume is starting to come off, but considering he wore it for a good 2 hours and smiled for pictures, I was one happy mama!

Plus, how cute is this little town?  We had a great trip!

Fall...

Fall is by far my favorite season!  Plus, I love that Mason is getting older and having more fun during fall activities.

Mason just had to have a pumpkin from Target so we let him paint his very own pumpkin.

At some point the pumpkin did get painted, but he seemed to have more fun painting himself and the patio!  He threw his biggest tantrum to date when we took the paintbrush away and cleaned him up.

Then, of course, we went to the pumpkin patch!  He was over pictures before I even started.  However, we still had fun, and I did get a few good ones out of him.

Clearly, he is over his mama taking so many pictures.

Way more interested in sticks than anything else!
I wish the weather here would get cooler and stay that way.  My boy is going to grow out of his winter clothes before he ever gets to wear them!  Hopefully, there will be more posts to follow while my sick baby naps. I love being home to spend the day with him, but I wish it wasn't because he was sick.
