I am finally getting around to posting about Mason's first birthday. The theme was little man! I picked this because I have always called him that, and I thought it would be so cute and fun. The colors were orange and blue. Nick picked these because of his two favorite sports teams: Chicago Bears and Houston Dynamo. We agreed that I would pick the theme and he could pick the colors.
I didn't get quite as many close up pictures of all the decor and desserts as I would have liked. I was running around like a crazy person before the party started, and then when quests arrived my aunt took my camera and was on photo duty. However, here are some the pictures of my baby's first birthday! I still can't believe he is one! Without further ado, Mason's Little Man First Birthday:
| Dessert Table... |
| I made all of the desserts, and I don't know that I would do it again. Everything, eventually, turned out perfect but it was so much work! We had cake balls, cupcakes, chocolate mustaches, mustache cookies, tie cookies, and Nutty Buddy Bars in cigar boxes! |
| Mustache Cookies! |
| Tie and Bow Tie Cookies! This picture was after lots of them had been enjoyed! |
| The party started at 2 so we just did a nacho bar, which saved us from having to do an entire meal. It was a huge hit too! |
| While getting food, we had everyone vote on who Mason looked like at one. I didn't get a picture of the final vote, but I won by a landslide! |
| Drink Station with 'Mason Water', sweet tea, and blue raspberry lemonade. |
| The living room had tables set up for extra seating... |
| Birthday mantle, and we had a picture from all 12 months hanging across it. The guests really enjoyed seeing how much Mason has grown and changed! |
| Birthday boy, decked out in his tie shirt! |
| My brother and nephews, they were stocked about the fake mustaches! |
| My mom thought it only fair that Mason got to try the drinks at his party! |
| Cousins with chocolate mustaches |
| Cousins, how cute is Ava?! She is a year older than Mason. My best friend if my next baby could look like her, haha! |
| Cake time! |
| There is a Polish tradition (my husband is Polish and I am clearly not, haha) where you place certain items in front of the baby on their first birthday and what they pick tells you about their future. |
| Of course, my child had to pick up the shot glass first...I'm sure you can guess what that was supposed to mean. |
| Then, he chose bread meaning he will never go hungry. We are going to say that was his first choice! |
| Opening gifts! |
The party could not have gone more perfectly! Everyone enjoyed themselves, thought everything looked and tasted great, and Mason loved every minute of it and that is all that really matters!
