Austin and Conan!

Nick and I left for Austin on Friday afternoon, and it was such a wonderful weekend!  The whole reason for the trip was to see Conan O'Brien, who Nick is crazy about!  I actually really enjoyed the show, here some pictures...

Conan sang, danced, and wore purple paisley pleather...there wasn't much not to love!

The rest of the weekend we just relaxed and took in Austin.  We went to the Texas State History Museum, which was awesome!

Of course, some amazing food was involved!  We went to Salt Lick for some famous bbq, and it totally lived up to all the hype!  We also got seated with this really nice/awesome couple, so that made the experience good as well.  The food was pretty incredible and the Lauren Sauce was ridiculously good!

We also went to this awesome bar and lounge where we got to make s'mores at our table...so fun and so good!

We had a blast, and I am so ready for our summer trip to Tennessee, and I only have 8 1/2 days of school left!

DOUBLE Date Night!

I know, I know!  I have been quite the blogger slacker lately, life has been hectic!

Last weekend, though, Nick and I double dated with two of our most favorite people...Eric and Selina!  We did some bowling, made chocolate covered strawberries, baked some cookies, and just hung out at our house.  We always have fun with them, and this was no exception!

Stay tuned, the next double date will be at a drive-in!  We can't wait to go see movies at the drive-in, and kick it old school with glass bottle Dr. Peppers and fun candy!
Plus, this weekend, Nick and I are doing Austin.  Can't wait to be done with this week, and this trip will make everything better!  AND...tomorrow is field day so I will truly get to end the week in the best way!

The 8th picture in my 8th album is...

Thanksgiving 2009, our first married Thanksgiving!  We were at my parents, and Nick's parents came into town so we could all spend it together.  Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday...lots of amazing food and family, no presents required!  All of our time is spent hanging out and eating, I love it!

Wienermobile!

There was a Wienermobile sighting on Friday during date night!  Nick and I not only think it is awesome to see it, but also find it ridiculously fun because Nick's dad is obsessed with it.  He has always had a desire to drive it, and he even entered a contest where the prize was getting to drive it for a whole day.  Every time we see it we have to call him and let him know.  His dad has been in the driver seat once before, but he has yet to have the privilege of driving.  Here are Nick and I with the Wienermobile...

Strawberry Pickin'

Last week was pretty much the week from hell, so you will have to excuse the lack of blogging.  However, the weekend totally made up for the horrible week!  Nick and I love that there is a farm so close to our house where we can buy produce.  They have fresh, delicious produce, plus it is so much fun to go to!  This time we decided to actually pick our own strawberries.  How cool is it that not only do we get cheap, fresh, yummy produce, but we even get to pick it ourselves!  Here are some pictures of our strawberry pickin' experience...

FLEAS!

When I got to work this morning I went and sat my stuff down in my classroom and then went to the restroom.  Upon leaving the restroom I found a flea on my arm.  Gross, I know!  I started to feak out thinking that some how my dogs had gotten fleas and we were going to have to handle that tonight.  Well, I go downstairs and am talking in the office when a teacher comes in with a first grader saying that her and the rest of the class are complaining about bugs biting them.  (All the kids wait in the gym in the morning.  We do a prayer circle there and then go to our rooms)  We check out the first grader, and she has fleas all over her socks (she was wearing knee highs with her uniform).  The gym is pretty much infested with fleas!  Who knows how it happened, but it is disgusting!  Turns out about half of the school has fleas, including my classroom.  I had to teach in the computer lab today, and didn't realize how difficult it can be to conduct class outside of my room.  Everything is organized in there, but I was trying to move things and figure out what I needed.  Then the kids act super crazy because something out of the ordinary happened.  Not the best way to start a week that is already going to be stressful!

I feel gross and itchy and like I need to shower!!  Thankfully, they are spraying, bombing, fumigating, or whatever tonight so we will be safe to come back tomorrow with no fleas.  What a wonderful Monday...

Santowski Past

I am planning on doing a massive photo project in our hallway with black picture frames.  I wanted a lot of different family pictures from the past and present.  Nick asked around and his aunt gave us stuff from his grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary so we could have old Santowski photos.  It is super exciting to see what everyone looked like and to have all these old photos.  Here are a few of the fun ones that mean something to Nick and I...

This is Nick's grandparents at their wedding...how awesome is that!!  They have been married for 59 years, INCREDIBLE!  Nick and I hope to be like them!
