17 weeks with #2

How far along: 17 Weeks!

Baby size: About 5 1/2 in.  The size of a turnip!

Maternity clothes: Pretty much all I wear now is maternity unless I am at home lounging.  Some things are big/loose, but my regular clothes are tight and near as comfortable.  I am showing so much faster, but at least I will get more use out of maternity clothes this time.

Sleep: I wake up several times to switch positions; I can’t sleep in one position for too long before I get uncomfortable.  I am still having trouble with waking up and then it taking me hours to fall back asleep.

Best moment this week: This is actually very similar to what I wrote when pregnant with Mason!  I saw lots of family for the first time since they found out the news because it was my cousin's baby shower.  Also, when I lay still I can feel the baby's heartbeat in my stomach.

Movement: Not really...

Food cravings: Water!  Last summer we bought a pitcher that you could put fruit in to infuse water and such.  It got broken, so I had to go buy one this weekend because I have been craving water and strawberry/lemon water sounds amazing.

What I miss: Not much.  I'm feeling pretty good, and things have been going well.

What I am looking forward to: 3 weeks away from finding out gender!!

Milestones: Baby is getting bones instead of cartilage and the umbilical cord is getting stronger!

Pregnancy Symptoms: Round ligament pains like you wouldn't believe.  It has been really bad and painful this week.

16 weeks with #2

How far along: 16 Weeks!

Baby size: About 5 in. or so

Maternity clothes: More and more each week.  I am definitely showing, and they are way more comfortable.

Sleep: Ok, but I have been waking up in the middle of the night and then having trouble falling back asleep.

Best moment this week:  At the Dynamo games we sit next to two other couples that a little one like we do.  We all went to the game on Sunday, and we found out that all three of us are pregnant again!

Movement: I want to say yes, but still a little unsure.

Food cravings: Not much, but when I get thirsty it is like I can't quench it.

What I miss: Nothing really.  Being able to comfortably button my pants would be nice though, haha.

What I am looking forward to: Thursday is our Dr. appt. and then at the end of the month we will find out the gender.

Milestones: The baby can recognize our voices.  Nick and Mason talk to my belly everyday!

Pregnancy Symptoms: Round ligament pains and some hip pain.  It seems so early for this...

15 Weeks with #2

How far along: 15 Weeks!

Baby size: About the size of an avocado!  Around 5 in. and 4 oz.

Maternity clothes: Been wearing maternity bottoms a lot lately.  They are a little loose, but its better than having pants that squeeze!  I am without a doubt showing much faster this time around.

Sleep: Sleep has been ok.  I am already having to get up once a night to go pee.  I feel like symptoms in general are starting faster this time.

Best moment this week: Mason telling the baby goodnight each night and kissing my belly.  I love it!

Movement: I really think I am already feeling movement.  I know it's early, so I feel like maybe it isn't really the baby.  However, it totally feels like the baby to me!

Food cravings: So odd, but I haven't really craved anything this whole pregnancy.

What I miss: My normal clothes.  With Mason, I wore my regular clothes for a very long time before switching to maternity.

What I am looking forward to: Selling our house and watching our dream home get built!

Milestones: I am starting to show!  The baby has eyebrows and eyelashes!

Pregnancy Symptoms: Not much.  I am so happy that I haven't been sick with colds and such this time!  Been very lucky to again have no nausea or vomiting!  I really love being pregnant!

14 Weeks with #2

No picture this week...

How far along: 14 Weeks!

Baby size: About the size of a large navel large!

Maternity clothes: I have been wearing a lot of maternity bottoms lately because they are just way more comfortable!  I am definitely showing way faster than I did with Mason.

Sleep: Overall, pretty good.  I have a hard time falling asleep sometimes though.

Best moment this week: Mason voluntarily talking to my stomach!  He told the baby to come out, haha.  I told him we still had quite a while, and we want to keep it that way!

Movement: Not yet...

Food cravings: Nothing really.  I feel like I am thirsty all the time though and always want something cold to drink.

What I miss: Not being out of breath after playing and running around with Mason.

What I am looking forward to: Next Dr. appt. is May 1st

Milestones: I am in my second trimester!  Our wee one is growing hair, unless they are going to be a bald baby of course.

Pregnancy Symptoms: I have been having some pretty bad round ligament pains already.  It got really bad after I carried a sleeping Mason through the airport.

13 Weeks with #2

How far along: 13 Weeks, 2nd trimester!

Baby size: About the size of a peach!

Maternity clothes: I am showing so much sooner than I did with Mason!  I am already wearing some maternity bottoms simply because they are more comfortable.  I still have pants that fit, but I don't how tight they are.

Sleep: I've been having a really hard time sleeping this pregnancy.  I am exhausted but will wake up at like midnight and can't fall back asleep for a couple of hours.  I also already have to get up to pee in the middle of the night occasionally.

Best moment this week: Breaking the news to some family and friends!

Movement: Nope, and I can't wait.  It is one of my favorite things about being pregnant!

Food cravings: Oddly enough, I have had like no real cravings and minimal aversions this go around.

What I miss: Having more energy.  Hopefully that changes as I get more into my second trimester.

What I am looking forward to: May 1st, our next Dr. appt.  I love hearing the heartbeat.

Milestones: I am in my second trimester!  Our wee one is growing hair, unless they are going to be a bald baby of course.

Pregnancy Symptoms: I am the woman other pregnant women hate!  I have had hardly any symptoms other than extreme exhaustion.  I am definitely more tired this time, but that is probably because I am chasing an almost 3-year-old around when I get home from work.

Mama's Due with Baby Number 2!

We were getting asked all the time when we were going to have another baby.  And, to be perfectly honest, part of me kinda wanted to keep our little family of three.  Why couldn't Mason be an only child?  Was that really such a terrible thing?  I had always thought of having 3-4 kids, but we had a routine, things were easy, we were rocking being parents to an amazing little boy!  I couldn't help but think how nice it would be to just keep things the way they were.

However, I knew deep down that wasn't what I really wanted, and Nick made it clear that it was definitely not what he wanted.  We had a plan on when we would start 'trying' again.  Well, I changed schools and didn't want to be the new, pregnant teacher. (Been there, done that!  Not again!)  Nick changed jobs, got laid off because he was the newest employee, and then had to start another new job.  The timing wasn't what we thought it would be.

Once we were all settled with jobs and life again, we knew it was time!  Mason was getting older, and, of course, we were getting older.  I've mentioned before that I have PCOS.  It can really complicate the whole conceiving thing.  I was really worried this time around because my period had gotten unpredictable, and it was 48 days from start to start instead of 28.  I was freaking out that it would take forever and may not happen at all.  I decided to get the ovulation detectors that you pee on like a pregnancy test.  I went through almost an entire box only getting the empty circle, no smiley face inside.  I was worried that I wasn't ovulating because of my PCOS.  Finally, I got a smiley face!  We went for it and hoped and prayed that I would get pregnant since it would be at least a month and half before we could even try again.

Nick said he knew I was pregnant, he could feel it.  I kinda felt that way too, but I didn't want to get my hopes up.  I decided that since my periods were so far apart I couldn't wait that long to take a pregnancy test.  I bought a pregnancy test that was supposed be the one that could tell me the soonest.  I was shocked, overwhelmed, and ecstatic that it said 1-2 weeks pregnant!  I really wanted to do something fun to surprise Nick, but we were all at home and I couldn't hold it in.  I walked into the living room with the test in my hand and gave it to him.  He was just as shocked as I was, and then told me he was going to have to get a vasectomy!  We feel unbelievably blessed and grateful beyond measure that we have been able to get pregnant on the first try twice.  It just doesn't happen, and it really doesn't happen to people who have Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome!

I knew I needed to talk to my Dr. right away because with Mason I had to take a hormone because my body wasn't producing enough.  The hormone I was low on is what helps sustain the pregnancy and keep the baby growing until the placenta takes over.  I had a high change of miscarriage without it.  My Dr. had already told me that I needed to see her as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test so we could take care of this if it happened again.  My Dr. is amazing and I absolutely love her!  Apparently everyone else feels the way, and she was completely booked for the next two weeks, and then Nick and I were going to Belize for a 5 anniversary trip.  Her fabulous nurse told me not to freak out and that I could get blood work done at a lab near our house.  The blood work would tell them everything they needed to know, and I could see the nurse practitioner before our trip.

Sure enough, we had the same issue.  I started the hormone asap, saw Jenna the nurse practitioner, and everything seemed to be on track.  I still felt uneasy telling anyone until I was further along and had seen MY Dr.  Luckily, everything has been great!  This pregnancy is very similar to Mason's.  I haven't had any sickness.  I am so thankful for this!  No nausea, vomiting, heartburn, or anything else.  For whatever reason though, my thyroid level isn't where they want it, so I am currently on a thyroid medicine until they feel like it is at a good level for pregnancy.  We are overjoyed for our new addition and can't wait to find out the gender!

Here we go again!

Most people already know, but we are expecting our second bundle of joy in early October!  Mason is pretty excited, and so are we!
